Spring Trends 2025
I don’t usually tend to talk about trends because we all have different lifestyles and for the most part I don’t like to wear trendy clothes, I like to wear things that will last the test of time and will work WITH my lifestyle. BUT with that being said I thought it would be great to look at some of the spring trends and how we can use Sewing Patterns to achieve these looks.
Crochet Dresses, Eyelet Fabric or Lace Trims - Sezanne Spring 2025 looks.
Two beautiful blouses, one crochet which if you are good at that by all means have at it! I don’t crotchet but I can sew and I know for a fact that you can get ladder lace trim, eyelet fabric and make something yourself that is pretty close and guess what, this will work really well thru the summer months. Use Vogue 2031 or Vogue 2004 . I recently saw some great eyelet fabrics at Stone Mountain and Daughter Fabrics, Mood Fabrics and Style Maker Fabrics. As far as trims go, I highly recommend Etsy for this, especially a cotton ladder trim if you want to make sure that the trim matches your fabric to a T.
Three Dimensional Embroidery - I feel as if this can be one of those things that you can do as much or as little as you want. If you have an embroidery machine you can really take this and run with it. Although you can make a great dress with embroidery (think A-Line dress and don’t go crazy with it) or even a great knit cardigan (True Bias Brynn Cardigan) that you can wear with a pair of nice shorts or a pencil skirt. OR you can use Simplicity Patterns with floral appliqués (they even got a tutorial!) check out S3101 and make it your own. But here is some inspiration from Oscar De La Renta and Carolina Herrera.
Pastel Colors - Barely There Pinks, Mint Green and Pale Blues bring a sense of lightness and romance and also gives you an alternative to darker hues. This is always an easy one when it comes to spring time. We usually look good in one of these hues because it softens our features. So look for fabrics like linen or perhaps knit where you can make a button down dress or perhaps a nice lavender top and wear it.
Dropped Waists - Saw a lot of this from both Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta. Why do I talk about these two? Well their designs translate well into an every day wardrobe. Yes you can buy a $8K dress but their designs are wearable and you can get some ideas. Anyhow, back to dropped waists. IF you want this look check out these two sewing patterns.
Here is a little bit of inspiration from Oscar de La Renta, love the scalloped hem for a little bit of fancy. Easy to do with a hem facing.
Modern Feminine Tailoring - Think oversized blazers, cinched waists and high trousers. I will admit I’m not crazy about this one as it wouldn’t be a good look on me. But I can see how this would work well and be a fun take.
