Indie Patterns Acquisition over the holidays

I feel like I have entered the era of I don’t want to print any more patterns. I can see why pdf patterns are great to have, you can just store them on your computer and voila if you want it you can print it a thousand times. But I just don’t want to send anything to a printer (for the time being) and I don’t really want to cut and glue anything these days so I’ve been trying to order as many printed patterns are possible. I took advantage of a lot of sales during the holidays and I foresee myself doing that again whenever the next big pattern sale comes around. Which I think it will be May? Maybe?!

If you are looking to print patterns I’ve had good luck with

PDF Plotting - The more you order, the cheaper it is. Shipping is the only killer but it makes sense to order a few patterns at a time. It comes rolled up in a mailing tube. So if you don’t want your patterns folded, these are your peeps.

Brooklyn Motif Printing - They have the best prices that I have seen. Shipping is also a little bit better in terms of cost, however your patterns are folded so heads up if you don’t like that. Service was fast and the website really easy to use.

Anyhow, as I said I am embracing printed indie patterns and purchase them whenever they are available. Here is what I got over the holiday season.

  • Classic Shirt from Liesel + Co - I want to make a few button downs. I do love my Butterick Camp Shirt B6924 but looking for other styles and of course hoping things fit and I don’t have to make a ton of adjustments.

  • Simplicity S9889 - It’s been a while since I’ve purchased a Big Four new pattern. Nothing is really calling out to me these days, again I’m looking for patterns / garments that I can wear as a busy mom running errands and this looks great for spring and summer. Hoping to make it soon.

  • Riley Overalls - I know this pattern was released last year I thought a pair of overalls would be great to have as part of my arsenal. There are plenty of them, one reason why I got this pattern True Bias crotch curve fits me to a T. That right there is enough not to have me searching for a different pattern making adjustments and what not.

    Another Jumpsuit…. I know I know.

  • Rory Jumpsuit from True Bias - Same thing, that crotch curve that I don’t have to mess around with yeah I like that. Another great pattern to wear in the summer as a pair of shorts.

  • Roscoe Blouse - I thought I would try something different. You all know I really like S9469 pattern from Simplicity with the keyhole. The only thing that I would love to try is the same style with bias tape. I did try the Remy Raglan from Sew House Seven but sadly that pattern had a lot of ease but it didn’t fit correctly at the shoulders so trying something else with this Roscoe Blouse. Wish me luck!

  • Vogue V2436 - Badgley Mischa evening dress. Nope, not going anything but I thought I could use the top part of this and make myself a fun summer dress that feels a little dressed up. It was going for $8 on Etsy so why not indulge in a little late 90’s early 2000’s fashions.
